Sleep
DSIP
Also known as: Delta-Schlafpeptid
A nonapeptide first isolated in 1977 from rabbits in deep sleep. DSIP is studied in sleep research and as a neuromodulatory peptide.

- Sequence
- Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu
- Molecular formula
- C₃₅H₄₈N₁₀O₁₅
- Molecular weight
- 848.82 Da
- Amino acids

Mechanism of action
The receptor of DSIP has not been clearly identified. The peptide modulates delta-wave activity in the sleep EEG and influences the release of somatoliberin, somatostatin and opioid peptides.
