What is Melanotan 2?

A cyclic heptapeptide analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), known for its melanogenic effect and studied in pigmentation research.

MT-2 activates the MC1 receptor in melanocytes and stimulates melanin production. It also activates other melanocortin receptor subtypes (MC3R, MC4R) in the brain, which affects appetite and sexual function.
