IGF-1 DES
Also known as: IGF-1 DES(1-3), Des(1-3)IGF-I
A truncated variant of IGF-1 lacking the first three N-terminal amino acids. Without them, IGF-1 DES barely binds IGF binding proteins and acts more potently at local level than native IGF-1.

Mechanism of action
Without the Gly-Pro-Glu residues, binding to IGF binding proteins is greatly reduced, which raises the local biological activity at the IGF-1 receptor.
