A modified long-acting variant of human IGF-1. An arginine at position 3 and a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension give IGF-1 LR3 a much longer half-life and reduced binding to IGF binding proteins.

Mechanism of action
IGF-1 LR3 binds the IGF-1 receptor with high affinity and activates PI3K/AKT and MAPK signalling. Lower binding to IGF binding proteins leaves more free, active peptide.
