Growth hormone axis
Tesamorelin
Also known as: TH9507, Egrifta, GHRH(1-44)-Analogon
A stabilised 44-amino-acid analogue of human GHRH. Tesamorelin is the only GHRH analogue approved by the FDA and is studied in research on visceral fat and lipodystrophy.

- Half-life
- ~26 minutes (s.c.)
Mechanism of action
Tesamorelin binds the GHRH receptor of the anterior pituitary and stimulates the synthesis and pulsatile release of endogenous growth hormone. An N-terminal trans-3-hexenoyl group protects it from breakdown.
